We are now recruiting at Consultant and Senior Consultant Level.

Overview of Role:

You will be required to work on a range of projects and bids and be flexible to work across the range of disciplines that currently form the Environmental Assessment team assisting with coordination, provision of environmental advice and impact assessment.

You will be part of the wider UK Environmental Planning team, which undertakes a broad range of environmental assessment projects, including environmental impact assessments, strategic environmental assessments, construction management and other environmental advice, for a mixture of private and public-sector clients.

Our team is involved in some of the UK’s most complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, energy, infrastructure and residential developments. Our clients include National Grid, Welsh Water, TfL, the Homes and Communities Agency, Welsh Government, Highways England and the Canal & River Trust together with a range of private developers and local authorities.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Coordinate of technical specialists
  • Lead development of mitigation proposals with the design team
  • Lead the Systems Engineering Management (SEm) inputs for the Environment team, with support from technical leads
  • EIA of design changes emerging from the design team
  • Identify consents/licences and leading the coordination of the design inputs into the preparation and submission of application documents
  • Work collaboratively with designated route engineers and advise across all environmental issues
  • Provide sustainability services including carbon foot printing and BREEAM
  • Coordinate junior members of the team
  • Financial reporting and forecasting across the Environment Team

What You have to Offer:

Essential:

  • Relevant first degree
  • Experience of working in consultancy or a comparable role in a contractor organisation
  • Experience of working on large infrastructure project(s), particularly in the rail sector
  • Wide-ranging knowledge of EIA and various consenting regimes
  • Detailed knowledge of UK legislation and planning policy
  • Demonstrable experience of producing Environmental Appraisals, ES and Sustainability Appraisals
  • Environmental management experience, including development of Construction Environment Management Plans, development of mitigation and knowledge of best practice methods
  • Stakeholder engagement experience, including supporting designers at public events, lead technical inputs at stakeholder meetings and developing materials to support client interaction
  • Experience in leading mitigation workshops and communication with technical stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance
  • Great communication and team working skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a client office
  • Full driving licence

Desirable:

  • Has lead environmental auditing and inspection experience
  • Environmental auditing and inspection experience on site
  • Knowledge and experience of GIS and BIM
  • Knowledge and application experience of sustainability and carbon foot printing
  • Lead environmental auditor
  • Knowledge and experience of ecological management and mitigation
  • Subcontractor management experience
  • A second degree in relevant field
  • Membership of IEMA/IES/CEnv or in the process of up-grading
  • First Aider
  • CSCS card holder
