We’re looking to add a Sustainability & Impact Intern to our BP&A (Business Planning & Analysis) team, a position that can become a permanent role, depending on performance and business outcomes. This new team member will be instrumental in scaling Nextail’s operations as we continue to make the retail world a better, more sustainable place.

At Nextail we don’t have a sustainability department; we are a sustainability company. If you’re chosen, you’ll be working hand-in-hand with all our departments to set and develop policies that will make a real change. If you’re eager to demonstrate that sustainability and profitability are not mutually exclusive and want to improve our strategies for making the retail world a better, more sustainable place – we’re looking for you!

At Nextail, we empower retailers to create better experiences and results while using fewer of the world’s resources. Our cloud-based platform uses artificial intelligence, prescriptive analytics, and optimization to deliver agile merchandising decisions. To date, we’re backed by more than $12M in funding from leading venture capital investors and are working with global retailers like Versace, River Island, and Pepe Jeans.

The ideal candidate has had exposure to business, financial and ESG reporting, knows about sustainability initiatives, and shares our love for technology.

The internship lasts 6-12 months and is open to students graduating in a relevant field. Madrid-based is a plus.

You will be:

  • Driving the set-up of our ESG reporting, from identifying best practices to its implementation.
  • Cooperating closely with our business and financial reporting team, as we are moving in a direction of integrated reporting.
  • Suggesting sustainability initiatives to our leadership team and supporting their rollout.
  • Identifying and pursuing public fundraising opportunities with a sustainability angle.
  • Helping make our vision known to the public, through participating in events and communicating on our ESG efforts.
  • Creating true transformation, not greenwashing.

We offer:

  • Paid internship: Your work will be rewarded and comes with the opportunity to convert into a permanent job.
  • High flexibility: We’re strong believers that what matters most are results. Each Nextailer is empowered, through trust and ownership, to organize their time as they see fit without jeopardizing the time or work of their colleagues.
  • Remote-first philosophy: Nextail started as a remote company and continues to offer a nice mix of remote and/or office-based environments around the world.
  • International environment: We operate across the globe, with recent operations reaching from Europe all the way to Australia, and our team alone consists of professionals of more than 15 different nationalities. While many of us are multilingual, our working language is English.
  • Diversity on all levels: United as a single team, we celebrate diversity at every dimension*. Professionally speaking, are you ready to work alongside tech geniuses, data science magicians, and fashionistas? You’ll have teammates with extensive experience in a wide variety of professional fields, including technology, retail, consulting and entrepreneurship.
  • The laptop of your choice: We want you to work with the tools that are most comfortable for you!

IMPORTANT: We’re looking for someone that is able to sign a minimum 6 months internship agreement through their university/school (convenio).

  • You must have the ability to work through University “Convenio” and ideally be able to work full-time once the internship finishes.
  • You are available for an internship of 6-12 months.
  • You are graduating in a field relevant to the role, e.g. Sustainable Business, Sustainability Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Impact Assessment & Management.
  • You are fluent in English (other languages would be a plus).
  • You have learned about business/financial/ESG reporting and sustainability initiatives.
  • You are an advanced MS Excel user, Google Suite is a plus. If you have some knowledge of PowerBI/interest in learning, that’s even better.
  • You are self-organized and able to juggle multiple priorities at the same time.
  • You have strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • You have strong communication skills that enable you to interact with people from different backgrounds.
  • Madrid-based is a plus.
